Fish Hoek High School offers a variety of cultural activities, allowing those pupils who are interested in areas other than sport to participate in the life of the school. There is a remarkable reservoir of cultural talent at FHHS. Visual Art, Dance, Music, Drama, Film and Photography, have collaborated to produce a stage extravaganza this year, to huge acclaim. One Act Plays, the Variety Concert, the Juniors Music, Art, Drama and Dance evenings and the Month of the Arts, all showcase the richness of our cultural offering. The arts are such a powerful tool towards self -discovery and the growth of self-belief and esteem.
Our pupils are quick to recognize and celebrate excellence from classics on the piano or violin, to best speakers… to the latest dance craze. A standing ovation from a 1000 pupils lingers long in the memory.
Yes, even first team rugby players sing in the choir…..
A number of clubs function throughout the year, such as:
- School Choir
- Drama Club and Backstage
- Film & Photographic Club
- Students Christian Union
- Matric Yearbook
- Reporters Club
- School of Rock
Other clubs or societies may be established if pupils show an interest in a specific field and it can be fitted into the general curriculum of the school. It must be noted that membership of some of these activities may be limited as selection is based on merit.
