Fish Hoek High School Grade 8 pupil, Daniel Alderton, participated in the Expo for Young Scientists and was awarded a gold medal for his outstanding engineering project. He competed against 603 pupils from 47 schools in the Western Cape.
Daniel re-purposed a discarded hearing aid and developed a prototype to serve 2 ears with cheaper batteries and lower maintenance costs. Daniel’s now affordable hearing aid prototype, could make hearing aids accessible to ALL people with a hearing impairment.
Daniel has been invited to showcase his achievement at the International Science Fair in Johannesburg.
